How to create an HTTP Injector config for Airtel

If the pre-built config stops working, you can build your own Airtel .ehi config. Requires basic technical knowledge.

1
Find an open port on your Airtel SIM
Install a port scanner app and scan common Airtel ports: 80, 443, 8080, 3128. Note which ports respond on your Airtel connection in your circle, Airtel's open ports vary by state.
🔎 Port 443 is open on nearly all Airtel circles. Start with 443 before trying others. If you plan to create an SSH Websocket variant, 443 is the only port you need.
2
Get a free SSH account
Use a free SSH account provider to obtain credentials: host address, port (usually 22 or 443), username and password. Free SSH accounts typically expire every 7 to 30 days and will need replacing when the config stops working.
3
Configure HTTP Injector for Airtel
Open HTTP Injector. Under SSH Settings, enter your SSH host, port, username and password. Set the Remote Proxy to an Airtel-whitelisted domain as the SNI host. In Payload, configure the HTTP request header to include a Host header matching an Airtel zero-rated domain.
💡 The payload and SNI host are the hardest part. The format is: GET / HTTP/1.1[crlf]Host: [airtel-allowed-domain][crlf][crlf]
4
Test and export as .ehi
Tap Connect to test your configuration. If it connects and pages load, go to Settings and tap "Export Config". This saves your working configuration as a .ehi file you can share with others on the same Airtel circle.

FAQ

Airtel HTTP Injector questions

Does HTTP Injector work on Airtel India? +
Yes. HTTP Injector works on Airtel India using .ehi config files that embed SSH credentials for free internet. It is a reliable fallback when HTTP Custom configs are patched, and it is the primary option for Airtel users on iPhone since HTTP Custom does not have an iOS app.
What is the difference between HTTP Injector and HTTP Custom for Airtel? +
HTTP Custom uses .hc config files and is simpler to set up, import and connect. HTTP Injector uses .ehi files embedding encrypted SSH credentials and is slightly more technical. The key difference is iOS support: HTTP Injector has an iPhone app, HTTP Custom does not. For Android users, start with HTTP Custom and use HTTP Injector as a fallback when HTTP Custom configs are patched.
How do I create my own HTTP Injector config for Airtel? +
You need an SSH account and knowledge of Airtel's open ports in your circle. Configure the SSH credentials and payload header in the app targeting an Airtel-whitelisted domain, then export as a .ehi file. The full step-by-step process is in the "Create your own" guide on this page. For most users, downloading the pre-built VPN4Pros config is faster and more reliable.
Does HTTP Injector work on iPhone for Airtel? +
Yes. HTTP Injector has an official iOS app on the Apple App Store. Download it, then import the Airtel .ehi config file, the same file works on both Android and iOS. This makes HTTP Injector one of the very few free internet solutions available for Airtel iPhone users.
Why did my HTTP Injector config stop working on Airtel? +
The most common cause is expired SSH credentials inside the .ehi file. SSH accounts in pre-built configs expire every 4 to 8 weeks. Download the latest Airtel HTTP Injector config from this page and reimport it. If you built your own config, you need to obtain fresh SSH credentials from your SSH provider and update the config.
