Econet free internet

Config files for Econet Zimbabwe

● Working Apr 2026

Econet Wireless is Zimbabwe's dominant carrier, controlling roughly 70% of the market. Ha Tunnel Plus is the recommended app for Econet, its SSH tunnelling approach delivers better stability than HTTP proxy methods on Econet's heavily managed network.

💡 Ha Tunnel Plus is strongly recommended for Econet. Econet's network management is aggressive compared to NetOne and Telecel, HTTP proxy configs get patched faster. SSH-based configs from Ha Tunnel Plus hold up significantly longer.

NetOne free internet

Config files for NetOne Zimbabwe

● Working Apr 2026

NetOne is Zimbabwe's state-owned mobile network. Its network management is generally less aggressive than Econet's, which means HTTP Custom configs tend to last longer on NetOne, making it a good option for first-time config file users.

💡 Which to choose? Start with the HTTP Custom Config for the simplest setup. If you need longer-lasting connections, switch to the Ha Tunnel Config. Keep the v2 HTTP Custom file as a backup.

Telecel

Config files for Telecel Zimbabwe

● Limited

Telecel is Zimbabwe's smallest mobile network, with coverage concentrated in Harare, Bulawayo and a small number of major towns. Config availability is limited for the same reasons as other minor networks.

Why Telecel configs are limited

Telecel's subscriber base is a fraction of Econet's, which means there is much less community testing of config files across different Telecel regions and plan types. Config files that work in Harare may not work in Bulawayo due to differences in Telecel's local infrastructure.

Telecel also uses different APNs and proxy port configurations to Econet and NetOne, making cross-network configs unreliable. A dedicated Telecel config request remains your best path to a working setup.

Best option for Telecel users
Request a config and include your city or town, Telecel's coverage and port availability vary significantly by location. Harare users typically get faster turnaround.
Alternative
Consider switching to an Econet or NetOne SIM. Both networks have more mature config file support and larger communities reporting what is working in real time.
Request Telecel config → Include your city for best results. Fulfilled within 48–72 hours.

Guide

How to get free internet in Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe's mobile data market is unique in Africa because it operates predominantly in USD. Unlike neighbouring countries where local currency depreciation softens the effective cost, Zimbabweans pay full dollar-denominated prices for every bundle. A 1GB Econet data bundle can cost between $1.50 and $3.00, a significant sum relative to average local incomes. This is why config files have a particularly strong following among Zimbabwean mobile users.

Ha Tunnel Plus has emerged as the dominant app on Econet, Zimbabwe's largest network. Econet monitors and patches HTTP proxy configs more aggressively than NetOne or Telecel, making the SSH-based approach of Ha Tunnel Plus a much better long-term choice. NetOne, being state-owned and less aggressive with network filtering, responds well to both HTTP Custom and Ha Tunnel Plus configs.

Econet vs NetOne for free internet

Econet's widespread 4G LTE coverage makes it the most capable network for fast config file speeds, but Econet's network management team actively patches open ports on a regular basis. Ha Tunnel Plus configs on Econet can last weeks to months because SSH traffic is much harder to identify and block. NetOne's infrastructure is less tightly managed, so HTTP Custom configs tend to work for longer before expiring, making NetOne the easier starting point if you are new to config files.

How to import a config file · step by step

1
Install the app · Download HTTP Custom or Ha Tunnel Plus from the Google Play Store. Both apps are free.
2
Download the config · Select your network above (Econet or NetOne) and download the matching config file to your phone.
3
Open the app · For HTTP Custom, tap the three-line menu at the top left. For Ha Tunnel Plus, tap the folder icon on the main screen.
4
Import the config · Select "Import Config" and locate the downloaded file. Tap to import it into the app.
5
Connect · Tap the Connect button. A VPN key icon in your notification bar confirms you are connected and browsing without using your bundle.

When configs stop working

Econet tends to push patches more frequently than NetOne. When a config stops connecting on Econet, switch from HTTP Custom to Ha Tunnel Plus first before looking for a new config, the SSH method often continues working long after HTTP proxy configs have been blocked. On NetOne, try the v2 config (alternate server) before downloading a fresh file. Check the status bar at the top of this page for current verified status.

FAQ

Questions about free internet in Zimbabwe

Common questions from Zimbabwean users.

Which app works best on Econet Zimbabwe? +
Ha Tunnel Plus is the strongest choice for Econet. Econet's network is actively managed and patches standard HTTP proxy configs quickly. Ha Tunnel Plus uses SSH tunnelling, which is far more durable on Econet's infrastructure. HTTP Custom still works but will typically need more frequent updates than Ha Tunnel Plus configs.
Can I use an Econet config file on NetOne or vice versa? +
No. Econet and NetOne use different network architectures, APNs and open port structures. A config file built for Econet will not connect on a NetOne SIM, and a NetOne config will not work on Econet. Always download the config that matches the SIM card in your phone.
Why does my Econet config work but feel slow? +
Speed on Econet config files depends on two things: the underlying Econet signal strength in your location, and the load on the proxy server used by the config. Econet's own network can be congested in high-density areas like Harare CBD and Chitungwiza during peak hours. Try connecting between 05:00 and 09:00 for the fastest results. Switching to the v2 config, which uses an alternate server, can also help during busy periods.
Does Ha Tunnel Plus work without any mobile data balance? +
Yes, that is the purpose of the config file. Ha Tunnel Plus exploits open ports on Econet's network that bypass the normal billing system. You do not need an active data bundle for this to work. You do, however, need a working SIM with network signal. Zero account balance is fine; a SIM without network registration is not.
Is it legal to use VPN config files for free internet in Zimbabwe? +
VPN use is not prohibited under Zimbabwean law. Using config files to route data without consuming a paid bundle exists in a grey area that is not officially endorsed by Econet, NetOne or Telecel. VPN4Pros provides this information for educational purposes. Exercise good judgement and use the internet responsibly within Zimbabwean law.
My config connected but WhatsApp and YouTube are not loading. What is wrong? +
If the app shows as connected but apps are not loading, the proxy server may be overloaded or temporarily down. Try disconnecting and reconnecting once. If the problem persists, switch to the v2 config file if one is available for your network. Clearing the app cache and restarting your phone also resolves this in most cases. If nothing works, download the latest config from this page as the current one may have been patched.
